Description
Fireproof acoustic downlighters (cover) fit above suspended ceilings in roof areas, or where floorboards are already in place. Offering effective airborne and impact sound absorption, as well as fire integrity for 60 minutes.
Our electrical and lighting products meet IET wiring regulations as well as Document B & E of Building Regulations tested to European and British Standards.
- Tested to BS476 Parts 22 & 23, achieving up to 240 minutes integrity.
- Acoustic properties tested to BS EN ISO 140-3 (63dB).
Downlighters, if not safely protected, can become a fire hazard as the hole cut in the ceiling to accommodate them compromises its fire resistance. Current building and wiring regulations have meant fire hoods have become a necessity. Not only does an
Acoustic Fire hood seal to stop fire penetration into the ceiling void left by fittings for up to one hour, but in normal use also offers ventilation to prevent the light fitting from overheating. It also has the added advantage over the
Intumescent Fire hood for Downlights in increasing sound proofing, minimising noise and vibrations.
Product Features:
- Maintains the fire rating of plasterboard or suspended ceilings rated up to 1 hour
- Available in standard and acoustic forms, preventing sound transfer from different floors of a building up to 63dB
- Can be made to accommodate downlighters alone, or downlighter/transformer combos
- Downlighter cages are a sturdier option, allowing for insulation to be laid over the top after they are fixed in place – ideal for lofts
- Can be used to improve the fire rating of ceiling-mounted speakers as well as downlighters
- Easily installed in 5 minutes or less. Custom sizes made to order.
Installing the Fire Hood
- Ensure to install the Fire Hood before the downlight to simplify the process.
- Lead the cable through the fire hood to connect with the downlight
- Compress the cover to fit into the opening and push it into the ceiling void, ensuring continuous contact with the firehood
- Use a blunt instrument, such as the handle of a screwdriver, or your hands to shape the Fire Hood within the hole. Ensure it is fully open in all directions.
- Once in place, position the fixing clips at the edge of the ceiling aperture.
- Make sure the Fire Hood sits flat above the downlight.
Please note that all dimensions of firehoods are approximate due to their flexible material construction.
