SMD tape has individual LED chips spaced along the strip — visible as dots at close range without a diffuser. COB tape uses a continuous phosphor coating for a completely smooth, dotless light output — better for low diffuser heights and premium installations.
Measured in LEDs per metre (e.g. 60/m, 120/m) or watts per metre. Higher density = more even output, less visible dot effect, and higher lumen output per metre. High-density tape (14.4W/m+) must always be used inside an aluminium profile.
12V suits short runs (up to ~5m) and frequent cutting. 24V handles longer runs more efficiently with less voltage drop. 240V tape requires no driver and suits very long exterior or commercial runs.
Tunable white tape has two sets of LEDs (warm and cool) that can be blended to any colour temperature via a controller. Ideal for spaces that transition between work and relaxation, or for biodynamic/human-centric lighting schemes.
RGB tape produces colour but no true white. RGBW adds a dedicated white LED for both colour effects and functional white light. RGB+CCT adds tunable white as well for maximum flexibility.

IP20 — dry indoor use only. IP65 — silicone-sleeved, splash-resistant, suitable for bathrooms (Zone 2) and kitchens. IP67 — fully sealed, suitable for wet rooms and outdoor covered areas. IP68 — rated for continuous submersion, used in pools and in-ground applications.
Side-emitting tape projects light from the edge of the strip rather than the face — useful for narrow profiles, edge-lit panels, step nosings, and slim shadow gap applications where face-emitting tape would cause glare.
Always size your driver at 20% above the tape's total wattage to allow headroom. Calculate: watts per metre × run length = total watts, then add 20%. For dimming, use a dimmable driver and compatible PWM or trailing-edge dimmer.
Bare LED tape exposed to view looks unfinished and runs hotter. Aluminium extrusions house and protect the tape, dissipate heat to extend lifespan, and diffuser covers create smooth, even, hotspot-free output. Available in recessed, surface, suspended, corner, shadow gap, and many more configurations.
